Students live and participate in leadership classes in Payne Hall on the Virginia Tech campus. Students have the option of living in the building during all years of their undergraduate experience at Virginia Tech. All first year students in the Residential Leadership Community participate in two required courses LDRS 1015 and LDRS 1016 during their first year at Virginia Tech. These courses explore philosophies of leadership and encourage student reflection through action. More information on RLC courses can be found here.
Students are encouraged to pursue the Leadership and Social Change Minor as part of their experience in the Residential Leadership Community. All second year and above students living in the RLC are required to serve in one of a variety of Peer Leadership roles which focus on the development of programs that amplify leadership programming and the overall sense of community.
